Minutes With Mike Mac #1

So I decided to start blogging more on life and music. It will be short but something that I want to do. I can't say that its going to be more music or more on life but I just know that I will try my best to post something everyday between Mondays and Fridays.

So first things first. I have recently met with several music industry professionals ranging from Billboard Top 100 producers to Chief A & R's at big record labels. I am very very happy and excited with what is to come in the near future. With that being said, I know that I will have to continue to work hard if not harder in order to make it in this crazy business. I say crazy because it literally can make you go crazy if you don't believe in yourself and make your own decisions. As I have grown older in this business I have seen careers take off just based on their own personal hustle and their will to be famous and establish themselves with a name. I respect everybody's hustle and most important the belief they have in themselves. It is really really important to look at these people, whether you like their talents or not, to understand that working as hard as they do to reach their goal isn't easy. Also understand that you must be humble and know that there is always somebody out there trying to do the same thing you are but in a different way, and that makes us all unique.Enough on that. Onto my thoughts on music.

I am very impressed with some projects that I have heard recently and yet disappointed on the larger spectrum of the industry. It seems that outside a few acts, 2010 hasn't really brought us a star yet, being that KESHA came out late 2009. I know its early but hey I'm just excited to see who will come out large in 2010. In terms of sound, I really think music is still heavy on electro/dance and will continue to be throughout the year. Props to Dr. Luke in establishing himself as the man in 2010 when it comes to production. I can't tell you how many people have said how much they appreciate his craft.

Ok, I promised it would be short and I guess I kinda lied. But until tomorrow, I hope all is well.

God bless,
Mike Mac
